I must say, I’m getting used to mall-wide sales.  The crowds used to bug me.  Now I can say I’m a bit tolerant of the sale-crazed crowd these days.  I actually look forward to sale announcements nowadays.  This is primarily because I can only allow myself to buy certain “luxury” items when malls offer them on sale.
One of these “luxuries” are new clothes.  For example, I would never allow myself to buy from G2000 if I don’t see a SALE sign outside their store.  That’s even if I consider this brand one of my favorite clothing lines based on what I’ve worn so far.  During the last 3-day sale at SM Megamall, I bought another casual Friday shirt from G2000.  Plus a cool t-shirt from Levi Strauss.  Plus a Pierre Cardin polo shirt from Cinderella.  You would never catch me buying new clothes from these shops on a regular “un-marked-down” day.  They’re simply just too expensive.
Another luxury item would be new pairs of shoes.  Almost all the pairs I have at the house were bought at marked-down prices.  My new pair, from Merrell, replaced my old rubber shoes I bought from the Great Singapore Sale (when my feet were a bit smaller).  I actually had to dissuade myself from buying another AND1 pair at the same time.  I’ll just come back for it in future sales.
The other luxury I can avail of during mall-wide sales is the splurging on original DVDs.  This is one of the things I really look forward to.  The prices are still way above counterfeit copies, but at least my “No To Piracy” policy is upheld.  I’m close to completing my CGI animated film collections: Cars, Monsters Inc., Monster House, etc. etc.  Heck, I even got a copy of “James and the Giant Peach”.  It’s just too bad I limit myself to only two thousand bucks worth of DVDs each sale event.
